The
Official 'History' of Amona on American
TV
by Eugene Narrett, Ph.D.
The referent for the following is the first six
and half chapters of George Orwell's increasingly
timely political novel, "1984," culminating in a
sentence that defines the era of mass media and its
symbiosis with government: "the past was erased,
the erasure was forgotten, the lie became
truth."
Nowhere is this more true than in events
pertaining to Israel and to the Jewish people and
their very ancient, abundantly documented history
in the Promised Land.
Today, the day of that forces of the Israeli
government destroyed a little neighborhood of nine
Jewish homes in Amona in the hills of Binyamin,
central Israel, on Jewish-owned land, in a Jewish
owned and built and paid for town, this is the way
the ethnic cleansing and police brutality, -- that
began with a cavalry charge and trampling of
unarmed civilians -- was described on American
Television.
At about 5:06pm on the CBS affiliate in the
Boston area, there was about a minute of film
coverage that omitted the cavalry charge, trampling
and mass beating with clubs. It did include some
footage of young people being dragged, beaten and
kicked while they were down and not resisting in
any way. Also shown were demonstrators atop one of
the homes being sprayed ("in order to mark them for
identification," the commentator said, no mention
of the famous 'caustic substances') and paint being
thrown down on police.
MK Effie Eitam was on camera (before he was
trampled by police horses and evacuated to an
intensive care unit). The CBS production unit left
in almost 5 seconds of him talking to interviewer,
Guy Ratz (more below). Just as he was making a
point about the government's needless provocation
of violence, he was cut off. The footage cut to an
interview with MK Dr. Aryeh Eldad, former chief
Medical officer of the IDF (before he had his
arm-broken and fainted). His words were not
included in the segment.
The CBS coverage ended with the camera focused
on correspondent Mr. Guy Ratz giving the historical
'facts' of the matter. Those Jews who were
protesting the expulsion of Jews from their home in
central Israel (about 15 miles from Jerusalem) he
identified as "right-wing ultra-nationalists whose
cause is increasingly unpopular in Israel." He
continued, "we can expect more such scenes as the
government has announced it will evacuate from
another 30 illegal Jewish outposts [sic] in
the coming months."
End of CBS segment. The past was erased, the
erasure was forgotten, the lie became truth."
Nothing about Jewish ownership of the land in
question, nothing about the land being inside an
existing town, about the permits acquired and those
that have been awaited for years; nothing of course
about the 'ancient history' of transjordan's
illegal and violent seizure of this land in 1948:
of course, the past has been erased and the erasure
almost completely forgotten by people who follow
"the news" which by definition wants nothing to do
with what is 'old.'
On CNN, lo and behold, there is the delightful
Mr. Raz again, doing double duty against his people
and getting a temporary seat at the table by being
a mouthpiece for the party line of the New World
Order. I did not see the very beginning of the
segment, nor hear all of it. But it featured Mr.
Ratz speaking against a backdrop of the burning
buildings, of civilians besieged on roofs and being
hosed and thrown down by police. Protestors
protecting the home were jumping from a first story
window. As they jumped, each one was photographed
by an IDF officer with a small camera before being
grabbed and hustled away. Once again, the
nightsticks were flailing.
Mr. Raz's comments for CNN's audience on "the
violent disturbance" was that the Jewish protestors
"had built homes on Palestinian owned land, the
government said," and that their "illegal outposts
would have to be dismantled." No mention was made
of the hundreds of illegal Arab buildings within a
radius of a few hundred yards of the site. No,...
Mr. Raz was smiling.
The penultimate chapter of Herman Melville's
great novella, "Billy Budd, Sailor" is a brief,
one-page official government history of the tragic
events in the story, the entrapment and judicial
murder of Billy Budd, exemplary sailor and
Englishman aboard the HMS Bellipotent through the
deceits of John Claggart and the tortured reasoning
of the good but ineffectual Captain Vere.
Melveille's point is that the truths of history are
buried, as deeply as Billy's body was sunk into the
sea. But also that deep in the sea, a song,
addressing the issues very indirectly continues to
be audible to those who are listening.
One hopes that those who are listening to the
song of Amona as it was deep-sixed and as Jews
defending Jewish homes in Israel were beaten by
robots of the NWO will continue to make the true
context of its voice, its harmonies heard.
The big lies being circulated about Jews and
Israel are becoming more and more like a not so
recent time in history about which they used to
say, "never again" and that largely inspired
Orwell's novel.
Postscript
This is postscript # 1 (there probably will be
more) on the riot today by Israeli police in the
Jewish town of Amona. By ordering this riot, Ehud
Olmert discredited himself from holding any office,
escape perhaps a jail cell, in any non-Islamic
nation.
Remind us: did he really invoke "the rule of
law" in ordering the savage, police riot? This is a
favorite rhetorical stroke of despots and
desperados: William J. Clinton was fond of it.
During the 1950s, '60s, and 1970s, when the
"civil rights" movement and anti-Vietnam war
movements were in bloom, the media scrutinized
closely any signs of police violence. Hitting
unarmed civilians with night sticks, turning fire
hoses on them, or riding them down with horses led
to banner front page headlines, searing editorial
condemnations, the fall of many politicians and a
radical reversal of American politics.
There was never violence in managing or
suppressing these protests like that deployed today
by the minions of the interim government in Israel.
Indiscriminate beating of protestors, many of whom
made no effort to resist police, some of whom
offered to leave the site immediately, trampling of
civilians by police on horses, which is lethal
force, kicking, punching, and beating with clubs of
protestors already held face down on the ground,
stealing the property of civilians, -- these all
are criminal acts by criminals serving a criminal
regime whose main agenda, aside from winning votes
from haters of Judaism and Jews, is still defined
as treason in Israel's legal code.
But in a regime of criminals, such a code has
little meaning except to condemn the innocent.
In July 2005, Member of the Knesset, the
distinguished Doctor Aryeh Eldad was standing on a
sidewalk handing out leaflets explaining reasons to
oppose the expulsion of Jews from their homes in
Gush Katif. Eldad was taken to jail for this and
reported that while there, police told him that if
he continued these activities, he "wouldn't be able
to use his hand for months." Today they made 'good'
on their mafia-like threat: while standing by the
houses in Amona, let us say it again, Jewish bought
and owned houses, Dr. Eldad had his hand
broken.
The thugs who did this, and those who delivered
the warning in July should be apprehended,
sentenced for violence and incitement to violence,
and deep-sixed. If the interim government was not
itself a criminal regime composed mainly of
criminals (after today, they all are criminals)
they would be. As it is, promotions are more
likely.
That's what the state of Peres and Olmert a
state mid-wifed by Clinton, both Bushes, and their
diplomats is: a regime where one gets promoted by
beating and breaking Jews who oppose expelling Jews
from their homes and creating Judenrein areas in
Israel.
In spring 1819, in the north of England, at
Peterloo near Manchester, a large assembly of
English men and women gathered to protest
unemployment, low wages and other issues, were
charged by cavalry. Many were injured, though far
fewer than the civilians injured today at Amona.
The police/military violence against civilians
sparked extreme outrage in Britain that might have
led to civil war if the government had not begun a
process that led to major reforms in labor
conditions and protection, in extending the
suffrage, and in controlling police.
It's up to Israelis to disseminate full coverage
of what the junta of Peres-Olmert did today to Jews
in Amona (while ignoring tens of thousands of
illegal arab buildings in Israel). Israel can
change from its anti-Jewish, spurning of the
birthright path if the Jews make this a rallying
cry. Where are the lawyers to indict Olmert who
publicly and repeatedly incited deadly force
against the Jews?
The British, whose descendants betrayed the Jews
to death, were up to outrage and resistance and
regime change. Are Jews whose backs are against the
wall also so able and willing?
